Human Things (Genki brand, Los Angeles) called this "Kickstarter #7" on the campaign page and claims the Covert Dock and ShadowCast lines have raised over $7M across crowdfunding combined — a creator claim we have not independently totaled. The two originals are independently verifiable:

• Actual: factory-complete end of January 2026; last-mile deliveries concentrated in March–April 2026; creator-reported fulfillment at 2026-05-13 was 11,525 of roughly 11,888 orders delivered or shipped, with the remainder in transit or blocked on backer surveys.
• The slip was announced in stages (December hope, January reset, February revision, March delivery) rather than all at once — a pattern backers should recognize as common even among experienced creators.

Honest limits: fulfillment counts are creator-reported, not independently audited, and one shipping update is backers-only. We found no pattern of non-delivery complaints in press or community coverage while researching this record; the campaign's comment count (2,394) includes visible frustration about tracking-number lag in February–March 2026. Classification for the delivery ledger: delivered — late (~3 months past the promised window), as of 2026-07-27.

Pricing Reality

Kickstarter pricing was a real but modest discount. Hardware tiers ran $59 (Covert Dock 3, ShadowCast 3), $69 (Global Edition), and $79 (ShadowCast 3 Pro) per the rewards page. As of July 27, 2026, Genki's store lists Covert Dock 3 at $69.99 and ShadowCast 3 Pro at $89.99, both in stock; the base ShadowCast 3 was not listed on the storefront when we checked, though Genki stated on X in April 2026 that it was selling on Amazon. Backing saved roughly $11 per unit over retail — in exchange for a three-month wait past the promised date.

Who This Is For

The campaign is over, so this reads as retail guidance.

Reasonable fit:

• Switch 2 / Steam Deck / ROG Ally owners who want a pocketable charger that is also an HDMI dock.
• Streamers and creators who want a genuinely tiny (11g) capture card for travel or convention use.
• iPad/iPhone users who want a console-to-tablet play-and-capture path via Genki's apps.

Consider passing:

• You own the V2 generation — the upgrades (HDMI 2.1, 4K60 capture) are real but incremental.
• You need guaranteed-spec 65W charging: the campaign's own spec sheet lists max output at 20V/3A, and we have not independently bench-tested the marketing wattage.
• You capture above 4K60 — this hardware does not.

Red Flags Scan

No kill switches triggered; no shell-company indicators. The creator is identifiable, multi-generational, and at retail. Three items worth documenting all the same:

1. Mid-fulfillment campaign launch. Genki launched Genki Grips in January 2026 while this campaign was months late; Updates #5 and #6 acknowledge backers were "surprised (or upset)." The creator states it used separate resources.
2. Support backlog. Update #9 concedes some backers were still waiting on replies and replacements for damaged/DOA units in May 2026.
3. Early influencer units. Update #7 clarifies that units shown by media creators in early 2026 were pre-production T0 prototypes, not the backer production run.

An earlier version of this page also quoted two different overall scores; the scoring machinery says 89, and the prose now agrees with it everywhere.

Bottom Line

As a trust case it lands where experienced-creator hardware usually does: delivery was never seriously in doubt, but the printed delivery date was optimistic by a quarter — the gap between those two things is exactly what the Supply Chain score's 80 is measuring.
