Campaign Record

Per the creator's October 29, 2025 update as relayed by Kicktraq, the S$20,000 goal was reached in about 20 minutes. Note that Kicktraq's final tally (699 backers, $301,092) lags the Kickstarter page's own 718 / S$310,858 — we treat the campaign page as authoritative. Campaign prices were set in SGD; several outlets quoted the goal as about US$15,000, which is the same S$20,000 converted.

Delivery Status

Funded, never shipped, cancelled, refunded. The full arc from the public updates feed:

• Update #5, March 2, 2026 — functional prototype demo (screen UI, hot-swap module recognition) plus a "Supply Chain Pulse Check" flagging industry-wide memory supply as a risk being monitored.
• Update #6 (pinned), May 31, 2026 — cancellation. Creative wrote that it "encountered a combination of extreme market volatility and critical component supply constraints" making the project unsustainable, and committed to a full refund of all pledges through Kickstarter.
• Update #7, June 10, 2026 — "We have started refunding your pledges through the Kickstarter platform." This is the last update as of July 27, 2026.

All four reward tiers had listed June 2026 estimated delivery on the rewards page; the cancellation landed the month before that estimate came due. The cancellation was covered by HardwareZone in June 2026.

Creator Analysis

The corporate backing was real and substantial: the campaign was run by the Sound Blaster team at Creative Technology, the Singapore company behind the original Sound Blaster sound cards, and announced through Creative's own pressroom with creative.com linked from the Kickstarter profile. Launch coverage came from mainstream tech press, including TechSpot on October 30, 2025.

One correction to our earlier prose, though: as a Kickstarter creator this was a first-timer. The creator account was created in September 2025 and shows one created project and zero backed projects. An earlier version of this page claimed "extensive Kickstarter history"; the account itself shows none, and we found no verifiable prior Creative-run Kickstarter campaign in this check. Established company, yes — established crowdfunding track record, no.

To Creative's credit, the wind-down was clean by crowdfunding standards: a clear cancellation notice, a stated full-refund commitment, and a follow-up confirming refunds had begun — all public, all dated.

Technical Feasibility — And What Actually Failed

The hardware claims were credible and partially demonstrated. The campaign page described 32-bit/384 kHz playback with a studio-grade DAC and amp driving headphones up to 300Ω, a Linux OS with root access and SDK, magnetically hot-swappable control modules, a DOS emulator, and AI apps (AI DJ, Sound Blaster Parrot, a reborn Dr. Sbaitso); TechSpot's launch coverage adds the octa-core ARM SoC, 6-TOPS NPU, 8GB LPDDR4, and 16GB eMMC figures. Update #5's March 2026 video showed the screen UI and live module hot-swapping on a functional prototype — this was not vaporware.

What killed it was the dimension our stored score rated most benignly: supply chain (80/100, rated "Low" risk on the strength of Creative's manufacturing scale). The creator's own March update was already flagging memory supply as an industry-wide concern, and the May 31 cancellation cited "critical component supply constraints" outright. The lesson this record now documents: an experienced, well-resourced creator reduces the risk of losing your money — Creative refunded everyone — but not the risk of never receiving the product.

Who This Is For

Nobody can back this campaign; it closed December 27, 2025, and the product was cancelled May 31, 2026. The remaining audiences:

• Former backers: refunds are issued through Kickstarter, per Update #7. You should receive a Kickstarter notification when yours is processed. If none has arrived, check the update thread and Kickstarter's refund FAQ linked there before assuming the worst — as of the June 10 update the process was explicitly still working through the backer list.
