What holds the score at Medium is that the verification stops there. InfiMaker was founded in 2024, has never shipped a product, and joined Kickstarter in April 2026 with no delivery history. Every hands-on account of the K1 is paid placement. The steel-and-titanium capability that separates this machine from a $2,000 desktop mill has not been demonstrated to any independent party. And the delivery schedule leaves nine weeks between the campaign closing and hardware arriving.

Off-platform the company is genuinely traceable, and this is where it separates from its nearest comparable. TechNode's Shanghai correspondent Jessie Wu interviewed founder and CEO Bowen Xie on 2026-07-28 in what reads as ordinary independent reporting, with no sponsorship marking. That interview corroborates the founding year and the CEO's name from a source that is not the company's own press release. InfiMaker also runs a storefront at infimaker.com.
The remaining corporate detail is self-reported and should be read as such. The claims that the team is drawn from DJI and Fortune 500 hardware companies, that a Shenzhen factory is rated for 3,000 units a month, and that first-batch production validation is complete all originate in InfiMaker's own GlobeNewswire release of 2026-08-11, syndicated onward to Yahoo Finance, Industry Today and Industry Leaders Guide. Syndication is not corroboration.
One discrepancy is worth noting because it mirrors the M5 record exactly. The claim that is not established is the one the marketing leads with. Cutting titanium and steel on a desktop machine is a question of rigidity and material removal rate, not possibility — a 1500W spindle taking light cuts in steel is physically reasonable. But in the only documented hands-on session, at InfiMaker's own premises, the machine cut white modelling board. The metal demonstration shown to visitors was a pair of pre-machined puzzle pieces that fit together, not metal being cut in front of them. Nobody outside the company has watched this machine cut steel.
ToolGuyd's Stuart, writing on 2026-07-21 about this whole wave of AI-powered desktop CNC campaigns, names unrealistic steel and titanium capability among his central concerns and observes that as far as he can tell none of the machines then being advertised existed outside social-media ads. The K1 has since answered the existence question. It has not answered the materials question.
The delivery window is the one scored deduction. The campaign closes 2026-09-26 and all twelve machine tiers quote December 2026 — about 66 days, or nine weeks. For a machine tool with an automatic tool changer and a bundled CAM application, from a company that has never shipped, that leaves no slack for a failed validation batch.

The only unpaid coverage — TechNode's founder interview and ToolGuyd's category commentary — involved no testing at all.
- The differentiating claim is unverified. Steel and titanium capability justifies the price and has not been demonstrated outside the company.
- Commodity hardware class, proprietary software. Desktop 5-axis mills with these spindle and ATC specifications are openly offered by OEM suppliers on Alibaba, so the category is white-label heavy.
