What the Product Claims to Be

Per the campaign page and New Atlas's March 4, 2026 coverage: a pocket multi-tool (95.5 x 45.5 x 10 mm, 84–141 g depending on material) combining a parallel wrench, pliers, hex bit driver, tap holder, and clamp, with wire snips on the stainless variant. The adaptive jaws stay parallel to a 20 mm opening; claimed clamping force is up to 21 kg. It is machined in 7075 aluminium, hardened stainless steel, or titanium, with user-replaceable jaws and a creator-marketed "200 year guarantee." The design revives a 1913 patent (J. Anderson's "Triplet Grip," distributed by Stanley until about 1915) that one of the team found at a flea market.

All mechanical figures above are manufacturer claims. We have not handled or bench-tested a unit; the campaign stated pre-production units were with outside reviewers during the campaign.

Who This Is For — and Who Should Pass

A fit if you:

• Do miniature painting, model making, 3D-print cleanup, or small repair work where a palm-sized locking clamp/wrench genuinely earns pocket space.

That is roughly £5.5 million raised across nine campaigns in seven years, with pledge totals climbing an order of magnitude since 2019. A May 2023 press release names James Whitfield as managing director; campaign updates are signed "Sean & Team MetMo."

The honest caveat: we verified funding history, not delivery history. We have not audited whether each prior campaign shipped on time. Supporting-but-indirect evidence that prior products did ship: metmo.co.uk sells retail versions of the Cube, Helico, Grip, Driver line, and Fractal Vise today, and the Pocket Grip campaign's own April 2 update refers to the Fractal Vise pre-order pipeline as an established, working process. First, the discount framing ("20% off retail," now "10% off retail" at late pledge) is anchored to retail prices MetMo sets for its own store — a common and legal practice, but the anchor is not independent. Second, by the creator's own April 2 update, the same products go to metmo.co.uk pre-order with a February 2027 shipping plan, so the practical difference between backing late and waiting is mostly schedule, not access.
